VACANCY NO: FET/CE 12/2019: SENIOR LECTURER IN PROJECT MANAGEMENT
The Department of Civil Engineering offers a Master of Project Management (MPM) Programme and a PhD in Project Management Programme. It is looking for a senior lecturer to complement its teaching team to develop the Programmes further into reputable academic and professional qualifications in Botswana and beyond.
The successful candidate is expected to (i) teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in Geomatics with specialization in any of the following fields: Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and GIS, (ii) conduct and produce results of scholarly work, actively involving students at undergraduate and post graduate levels; (iii) perform administrative and other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department. The Department reserves the right to allocate other courses besides those outlined above.
The successful candidate is expected to (i) teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Mineral Engineering; (ii) conduct and produce results of scholarly work, actively involving students at undergraduate and post graduate levels; (iii) perform administrative and other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department.
The Master’s Programme in Civil Engineering (MSc) curriculum reflects national demands in design and construction and management, and conforms to global trends in graduate education. It consists of core and optional courses which are streamed into five areas of Civil Engineering specialization: Water Resources & Environmental Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, Geotechnical Engineering and Transportation Engineering.
The Department of Civil Engineering offers a Master in Project Management Programme with two options: Course work with MPM Dissertation and Course work with MPM Research Essay. The offering of two options simultaneously shall depend on the availability of resources in the Department. Currently the MPM Dissertation option is being offered.
Subject to the provisions of Academic General Regulation 00.0 and General Regulations for Master’ degrees 40.1 and 41.0, the following Special Regulations shall apply to the MPM degree programme.
Admission into the Bachelor of Land Management Degree Programme shall be as stipulated in the
General Regulations 20.2.
Admission into Level 100 of the BLM Degree Programme shall be a minimum requirement of BGCSE with a D grade in English and a C grade in Mathematics,
Admission into Level 200 of the Bachelor of BLM Degree Programme shall be as stipulated in the General Admission Regulations.
Mature Age Entry Scheme and Recognition of Prior Learning admission shall be stipulated in the General Academic regulation 00.52
