Dr. Kerileng Dorothy Mpuang is a Special Education Lecturer in the Department of Educational Foundations at the University of Botswana, in Gaborone. Her area of specialization is Deaf Education and Early Childhood Special Education .This entails training teachers of Deaf or Hard of Hearing children and also those who will specialize in early intervention services and supports for children with developmental delays. She also offers some generic courses including Introduction to exceptionalities and Special Education. Her areas of research interest include Educating DHH learners especially in sign language and literacy, curriculum access and assessment strategies, early intervention and atypical development of young children, assessment of learners with disabilities, ICT and adaptive technology in teaching learners with special needs, and classroom instructions, accommodations and diversities. Dr Mpuang also teaches graduate courses in early childhood education for the Department of Primary education. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics, a Master’s degree in Special Education and Curriculum & Technology and Doctoral Degree in Education (EdD) from Ball State University, Muncie, IN. USA. She is a member of local and international Professional Associations.
