Dr Oats holds a Diploma in Secondary Education (Molepole College of Edu), Bachelor of Education and Master of Education (University of Botswana) and Doctor of Education (UNISA). In addition he also holds training in a number of short courses
Dr Reginald Oats is a lecturer in the Department of Educational Foundations. He holds a Diploma in Secondary Education (MCE), Bachelor of Education and Master of Education (University of Botswana) and Doctor of Education (UNISA). In addition he also holds training in a number of short courses such as certificate in School Library Studies, Certificate in Environmental Education, Lead Auditors training from Botswana Bureau of Standards (Implementation of quality management and Lead Auditor/Auditor), Instructional Design and Results Based Monitoring and Evaluation of programmes. His area of specialization is in instructional design and classroom observation among others. Dr Oats’s research interest is in the areas of teaching and learning, curriculum design, monitoring and evaluation. Currently he has over 15 journal articles in areas such as citizenship education, environmental education, teaching and learning, design and technology education and adult education. He also has keen interest in environmental and sustainability education. Before joining the University of Botswana he taught at secondary school level and colleges of education and lastly was a principal education Officer (Inspectorate in the Ministry of Basic Education).

Dr Oats,s research interest is in the area of teaching and learning, education for sustainability, adult education, instructional supervision and the teaching, social studies education and citizenship education
