Tumani Malinga (PhD.)- Senior Lecturer at the University of Botswana, Department of Social Work. 

Her research is focused on low-income women's lived experiences to understand the psychosocial pathways that might have exposed them to risks in their life course. She is also interested in gender issues, HIV and AIDS, mental health issues, social work in health settings, and adolescents’ life skills. She has also conducted research in the area of HIV and adolescents with the aim of developing HIV and STD prevention intervention program for Batswana Adolescents.  Her teaching focuses on practice or clinical and research based courses. Post MSW, she worked directly with clients in the hospital setting in Botswana to help them adjust and adapt post hospitalization; link clients with community resources; discharge planning; and in advocating for clients’ rights and needs. She has also worked with disciplinary committees aimed at improving service delivery in health settings. 

Dr. Malinga teaches both the undergraduate and graduate level courses with a focus on social work practice and social work research. She also teaches an elective course, First Year Experience: Learning to Succeed which aims to orient first year year students into the University.
