PART TIME TEACHING ASSISTANT- GRADUATE STUDIES (11 MONTHS)

Applications are invited for the position of Teaching Assistant in Graduate Studies at the Okavango Research Institute (ORI). The Institute is based in Maun, in north-western Botswana, and specializes in natural resources management, sustainable natural resource use and conservation in the iconic Okavango Delta and the Kgalagadi (Kalahari) region.

Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to: (i) assist with graduate students’ admissions process; facilitate registration process and ORI graduate program administration; (ii) assist day to day activities of the ORI graduate program; (iii) assist in organizing seminars for graduate students and ORI Graduate Committee meetings; (iv) perform any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Head of Department. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the ORI Graduate Coordinator to achieve the mission and objectives of the Institute, School of Graduate Studies, and the University.

Requirements: Candidates should have the following qualifications: (i) at least a bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Administration/Management, or a related field (ii) at least 1-year administrative experience in an institution of higher learning (iii) demonstrated understanding of the working dynamics of an academic environment; in particular graduate studies will also be an added advantage (iv) proficiency in the use of computers and IT are essential.

Remuneration: This is a part-time vacancy, working 20 hours per week. Renumeration is as per approved University of Botswana part time rates. For more information on the University, please visit our website: www.ub.bw.
