Applications are invited for the position of Teaching Assistant in GIS at the Okavango Research Institute (ORI). The Institute is based in Maun, in north-western Botswana, and specializes in natural resources management, sustainable natural resource use and conservation in the iconic Okavango Delta and the Kgalagadi (Kalahari) region.
Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to: (i) assist researchers and students with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS) applications: (ii) assist academic staff and graduate students with GIS/RS data production, acquisition, and processing (iii) assist with GIS Laboratory tasks and perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements: Applicants must possess at least a BSc in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or an undergraduate degree where the applicant has completed at least 5 GIS/RS courses/ modules. Preference will be given to those who can demonstrate hands-on experience in processing geospatial images and data.
Remuneration: This is a part-time vacancy, working 20 hours per week. Remuneration is as per approved University of Botswana part time rates. For more information on the University, please visit our website: www.ub.bw.
