PART TIME GYM INSTRUCTOR (3 POSITIONS)

Main Purpose of the job: Over all responsibilities for the job is to formulate and implement cardio activates/aerobics and physical fitness programs to the students groups, sports teams, UB staff, and outside community. Carry out advanced fitness assessment to client before he/she can prescribe exercise. Responsible for the management of aerobics /cardio equipment and manage the cliental fitness data.
Duties:The successful candidate will (i) Lead various types of aerobics programmes and activities including: cardio –interval, yoga, Pilates, stretch aerobics, spinning, cardiac fitness, weight training and clinical cardio pulmonary rehabilitation programs and water aerobics; (ii) Ensure class needs are met through class routines and organization; (iii) Work with class attendees to ensure they ensure they are performing exercise correctly and safely; (iv) Ensure class meet appropriate standards; (v) Encourage members to reach their fitness and wellness goals; (vi) Share educational information with class participants; (vii) Advice clients on good physical exercise benefits and prescribe exercise relevant to client’s level of fitness; (viii) Keep and maintain client’s fitness progress data; (ix) Keep up to date on safety and fitness trends; (x) Take day to day directions from the fitness gym supervisor; (xi) Attend to any other matters assigned by the Manager Sports and Recreation and (xii) attends to minor maintenance of gym equipment.
Reports to: Manager, Sports and Recreation
Requirements: (i) Certificate in Fitness, Sports and Recreation studies, Sports Science, Exercise Science or equivalent. (ii) Aerobics instructor certificate. (iii) First Aid certificate in Cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques. (iv) Excellent physical fitness. (v) Experience in performing the different types of aerobics movements, Pilate, stretch exercise, spinning and weight training (vi) A minimum of 2 years of aerobics instruction.
