PART-TIME COORDINATORS IN DIPLOMA IN ACCOUNTING AND BUSINESS STUDIES Centres: Lobatse, Selebi – Phikwe, Mahalapye, Jwaneng, Maun)

DEPARTMENT OF EXTRA MURAL AND PUBLIC EDUCATION

VACANCY NO: IRC 1443

Duties: Successful candidates will be expected to supervise and coordinate the DABS Programme at their respective centers (programme venue) from Monday to Friday between 5-30 PM and 8-30 PM and report to the Coordinator at the Centre for Continuing Education, University of Botswana, in Gaborone and Francistown. Other duties include helping the Lecturers in conducting test and examinations, stocking study materials and text books, accounting for the books received from the Bookstore, registration of students, provide academic advice, engage in student recruitment, ensuring proper classroom facilities and Computer facilities with school authorities, processing the lecturers’ claims, preparing time-tables and finally the overall coordination in all respects.

Requirements: Applicants should have: (i) at least a Master’s Degree in Accounting or Business Studies or related areas; (ii) a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Studies or related areas with at least a 2(ii) pass/GPA of at least 2.8; (iii) evidence of engagement in research. Evidence of governance and social engagement in relevant fields, a relevant PhD, teaching experience at a University or comparable institution and demonstration of effective academic leadership will be added advantage. However, a first degree in Accounting or Business Studies or related areas with relevant experience will also be considered in the absence of Master’s Degree holders. Applicants should already be resident in Botswana holding a valid residence permit (if non-citizen) and stationed at or near their respective centers.

The classes are held between 6:00 – 8:30PM at each of the above centres.

The appointment will be for one year from September 2024 to July 2025.
