Duties: The successful applicant will be expected to: (i) teach both undergraduate and graduate Psychiatry courses; (ii) engage in teaching clinical psychiatry at Sbrana Psychiatric Hospital, Princess Marina and other specified areas; (iii) conduct research in his/her areas of expertise; (iv) provide service for the university, profession and community and; (v) additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to undertake the following duties: research supervision, community service, research grant writing and resource mobilization, contribute towards departmental strategic plan development, and create relevant industry links for competency-based learning of the MMed residents nationally and or internationally; (v) carry out any other duties assigned by the Head of Department.
Requirements: - The applicants should have; (i) at least a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery or other recognized Medical Doctor qualification and a Master of Medicine in Psychiatry (MMed). In addition, the applicant should be registered or registerable with the Botswana Health Professions Council (BHPC). The following will be added advantages; (i) evidence of governance and social engagement; (ii) experience of teaching at a university or comparable institution and engagement in research and grants management.
Attributes and skills required: (i) Excellent communication and organizational skills; (ii) Strong academic leadership skills and sympathy for the values and culture of the University; (ii) Good management, human relations, sound analytical and coordinating skills.
