LECTURER - COMMUNICATION AND STUDY SKILLS UNIT (2 Contract Positions)

CENTRE FOR ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT - COMMUNICATION AND STUDY SKILLS UNIT

VACANCY NO: CAD/CSSU 01/2023 - LECTURER (2 Contract Positions)

Duties:  The successful applicant will be expected to: (i) teach Communication and Academic Literary courses to undergraduate students in any of the following: Humanities, Business, Science, Education, Engineering and Technology, Health Sciences and Social Sciences; (ii) Conduct research in relevant areas; (iii) Participate in the academic and professional activities of the Unit, and (iv) Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the Deputy Director of the Unit.

Requirements: Applicants should have: (i) a Doctorate in Communication Studies, Applied Linguistics, Language and Literacy Education, English for Specific Purposes (ESP), English for Academic Purposes (EAP) or related fields.  (ii) show evidence of engagement in research; (iii) The following will be added advantages: (i) teaching experience at university level or comparable institution, and evidence of scholarship in Applied Linguistics, Communication Studies, Languages and literacy Education, English for Specific Purposes (ESP), English for Academic Purposes (EAP) or related fields.

NB: In special circumstances Master’s Degree in Communication Studies, Applied Linguistics, Language and Literacy Education, English for Specific Purposes (ESP), English for Academic Purposes (EAP) or related fields. And a Bachelor’s degrees in the same fields with at least a second class, first division (.1) pass will be considered
