Requirements: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate academic or professional field. Preference will be given to holders of a degree in Management; human resources and or related field. Candidate must have at least 3 years administrative experience in a university or a knowledge-based-organization. Demonstrable knowledge on research administration and management skills are essential. Competence in organization and administration of complex projects is essential. Experience in the management of educational or research institutions will be an added advantage. A master’s degree will be an added advantage.
Competencies: Good interpersonal skills, communication skills, supervisory skills as well as good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to (i) assist the Director in the overall management of the Institute; (ii) Liaise between the Institute and University Administration, Faculties and other Institute/Centres; (iii) Specific responsibilities include: implementation of the Institute’s administrative and clerical procedures, oversees facilities and fleet management and controls, provision of secretarial services to Boards and Committees of the Institute, General interpretation of financial and human resources legislation and policies, implementation of UB policies, regulations and Botswana Labour Laws; (iv) undertakes other tasks as required by the Director of the Okavango Research Institute.
