DRIVER/MESSENGER (MAUN CAMPUS)- CONTRACT

The Department of Campus Services invites applications for the position of Driver/Messenger. The position is based at the Okavango Research Institute in Maun.
Requirement: Junior Certificate, HGV and PSV (General), PRDP Bus driving licenses. At least three years driving experience. Evidence of ability to drive off-road (that is, where four-wheel drive may be needed).
Duties: (i)Drive a wide range of university vehicles in accordance with instructions, throughout Botswana, and regionally to transport staff, students and other affiliated people in the Delta area and the region; (ii) carry out the duties of messenger; (iii) drive vehicles in the safest, most efficient and cost effective manner; (iv) collect and deliver mail, goods etc, as directed. (v) Clean vehicles and ensure that they are maintained in a roadworthy, neat and tidy condition at all times; (vi) Check vehicles to ensure serviceability and reports any defects; (vii) Carry out driver service checks; (vi)Complete driver’s logbook, and other service documentation in accordance with procedures, and also to process fuel and accounts for fuel receipts; (viii) May be required to stand in for transport supervisor from time to time; (ix) May be required to clear items through customs.
