ASSISTANT DIRECTOR IN ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT VACANCY NO. CAD/APRU1 /2022

Duties: The successful candidate will (i) Work with the Deputy Director APRU to review, critically examine, propose and implement modifications to the academic programmes of the University of Botswana in line with its vision and mission. (ii) develop and implement across the University of Botswana, a coherent and systematic curriculum review process congruent with the policies of semesterisation and continuous quality improvement (iii) provide assistance to faculties, departments and individual within the University of Botswana and its affiliated institutions in the development or revision of programmes of study that are consistent with continuous quality improvement (iv) undertake applied research in order to promote quality curriculum development in higher education in Botswana (v) promote academic development through dissemination activities and (iv) provide academic service and leadership to the University of Botswana and its affiliate and other tertiary institutions within and outside Botswana.

Requirements: (i) Applicants should have a minimum qualification of a Masters’ degree in Education/curriculum Development. (ii) A PhD in a relevant academic discipline will be an added advantage; (iii) at least three years or equivalent at lecturer or above in relevant areas in a university or equivalent institution; (iii) experience in academic development in a university or equivalent institution; curriculum development and review in higher education, quality assurance in higher education, academic staff training and development, institutional benchmarks, quality management excellence models and evaluation systems; (iv) a strong record of relevant research and publication; (v) excellent interpersonal and communication skills, (vi) evidence of organizational and human resource development skills, a high level of computer skills and knowledge about standards relating to quality assurance; (vii)membership of professional quality assurance bodies will be an added advantage.
